Owner

Matthew Kurtz

Matt is a dedicated pet professional and owner of Plain and Fancy Pet Salon, where he brings a touch of luxury to every grooming experience. A graduate of Adelphi University in New York (B.A. in Psychology, 1990), he combines his passion for animal care with a strong educational foundation.

Further specializing in the art of pet grooming, he earned his certification from the prestigious New York School of Dog Grooming in 2002.

Committed to staying at the forefront of the industry, he continually updates his expertise on the latest grooming trends and styles, ensuring his clients receive the best possible care. When he's not at the shop, you can find him playing tennis, playing piano, scuba diving, or at a show or concert.

Senior Pet Stylist

Sarah Reynolds Marsh

Sarah has been a lifelong animal enthusiast with a passion for working with animals. She began her journey volunteering at a veterinary office, which inspired her to master the art of dog grooming and styling. Sarah has always had a gift with animals.

She attended Morehead State University, where she studied Veterinary Technology and Animal Science, and later pursued Zoology and Animal Physiology/Biology (2001–2003).

In 2006, Sarah became a Certified Dog Stylist and Professional Canine Handler through the Nash Academy of Animal Arts. She also earned certification in Feline Grooming in 2016.

Sarah opened her own studio salon in Kentucky in 2019, where she operated it for 8½ years. She recently relocated to this area to reestablish and further her education in dog grooming.

Sarah has also volunteered at Veterinary Offices for SPCA.

At Plain and Fancy Salon, Sarah is a highly valued addition, elevating the standards of grooming excellence and bringing fresh expertise that raises the bar for the entire team.

Dog Groomer

Abby Marsh

Abby Marsh is an accomplished groomer with 7 years of experience in the pet care industry, specializing in caring for senior dogs and currently advancing her skills in creative grooming.

Originally from a small town in Kentucky, she brings a blend of boutique salon finesse and corporate salon professionalism to Plain and Fancy Pet Salon, raising the standards of grooming excellence.

In her free time, Abby loves singing at open mics, playing piano at home, and spending beach days collecting shells and capturing beautiful sunset pictures.

As a highly welcomed addition to the Plain and Fancy team, Abby’s expertise in senior care and her passion for creative flair make her a favorite for every fur baby she styles. Whether it’s a gentle touch for an old friend or a bold new look, she brings a whole lot of heart to our dog grooming family.

Rosalie

Rosalie is truly the heart of Plain and Fancy Pet Salon. As our Front of House, she has been the friendly face of the shop for the last 18 years, making sure every pet and parent feels like part of the family.

As Matt's mother, she brings a personal touch to the salon. Her kindness and genuine love for animals have made her a familiar friend to everyone who walks through our doors. Whether she’s handling appointments or giving your pup some extra attention, Rosalie is a huge part of what makes our salon a special place.
